On July 15 of the current year, the the final event of annual report of the JSC “Georgian Energy Development Fund” was held.
Within the framework of the above mentioned event, the head of the Fund Mr. Jaba Khmaladze spoke about two projects of outstanding, strategic importance: The New Samgori Solar Power Plant with installed capacity of 96 MW, which is implemented together with the United Arab Emirates State Company “Masdar”, and The Nigoza Wind Power Plant with installed capacity of 50 MW. He also drew attention to the importance of small HPP rojects. Over the past year, the Fund has actively worked on several projects, on which construction permits were obtained and several projects have already moved to the construction stage. Another direction on which the Fund has worked intensively over the past year is the field of research. The Enguri Hydrological Initiative, within which the Enguri Basin Forecasting System was created and transferred to the Georgian State Electricity System for management.
In addition, the head of JSC “Georgian Energy Development Fund” reviewed social, educational, energy-efficient and awareness-raising directions in his report. Five public schools in Tbilisi and Lanchkhuti were equipped with solar power plants, and for educational and awareness-raising purposes, mock-ups were made for schools and excursions were initiated. Also, videos of the heads of diplomatic missions of different countries were prepared, where they share experience of their countries in the development of renewable energies.
It should be noted that the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Romeo Mikautadze and representatives of the energy sector attended the event.
Within the framework of the annual report on activities, representatives of the energy sector discussed such important issues as: energy efficiency, achievements and challenges on renewable energy policy and sustainable development goals, planned reforms in the energy sector.
