Discussion of the Ghunji HPP Project in Chkhorotsku Municipality of Samegrelo Region

✅ Vladimer Dzneladze, Head of JSC “Georgian Energy Development Fund” and Tamaz Akhvlediani, Director of Project Management Department of the Fund, discussed the Ghunji HPP project planned for the municipality with representatives of the local government in Chkhorotsku Municipality of Samegrelo Region. The research stage of the project is in its final stage. At the meeting, the parties agreed to create a working group, which will be staffed with representatives of the population, the Fund and local authorities and will go through the project in detail at the locations. The installed capacity of the Ghunji HPP is 5.7 MW, annual output - 31.5 million kWh, and the total investment is 9 million USD. The project is being implemented by the Georgian Energy Development Fund.

✅ According to Vladimer Dzneladze, the development of the Ghunji HPP project will contribute to the country's energy independence and security, as well as the diversification of electricity sources and the creation of new jobs.

✅  The working meeting was attended by Jumber Izoria - the Mayor of Chkhorotsku Municipality, representatives of the local government and the population. The parties discussed in detail the current stage of the project, the action plan and the format of cooperation.
