A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government of Georgia and JSC “ Chalik Georgia Wind” on March 29 ,2016. Its goal is to study the wind ,then use it to build, own and operate power plants.
The term of this memorandum is 15 months from the date if signing the agreement.
The Government approved the concept paper prepared within the framework of public-private partnership in 2019. Within the framework of this concept, the guaranteed purchase price of electricity was also approved. The company fulfilled all its obligations and prepared all the necessary and essential research for the development of the project.
Negotiations were actively ongoing between the Government of Georgia and JSC Georgian State Electro system regarding the agreement on the terms of the construction memorandum (implementation agreement) in 2022. And also, in the same year, the details of the Guaranteed Purchase Agreement (PPA) were being negotiated with ESCO. These negotiations continued into 2023. However , it is planned to sign the mentioned agreement and move to the previous construction stage in the fourth quarter of this year.
